Evolution of the Piano Etudes

This recital traces the evolution of the piano etude through several centuries.

Besides the growth of keyboard virtuosity, this recital demonstrates the vivid

imagination of the composers writing for piano. As their innovations pushed the

limit of what was physically possible, new and fascinating means of expression

are explored.

Featuring Etudes by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Bartok, Prokofiev,

Szymanowski, Ligeti, Unsuk Chin, Jacques Lenot, William Bolcom, Mischa Zupko

and Pascal Dusapin.
